Treat Yeast Infection Because of Antibiotics – What is the Best?

So often, after a course of antibiotics you sit with a yeast infection. Then you start wondering about how to treat yeast infection because of antibiotics and what the best treatment may be. Well, help is at hand, read on for a few good tips.

Before you start to think about how to treat yeast infection because of antibiotics it is a good idea to think about why we so often get a yeast infection after a course of antibiotics.

Antibiotics are used to kill the bacteria that are making you ill. Sometimes there is just no option and you have to use it to get better. If you are really ill, you simply cannot avoid it.

1. Why do we get a Candida Albicans infection from Antibiotics?

Now the problem with antibiotics is that they not only kill the bad bacteria that are making you ill, but also the good bacteria that is keeping the Candida Albicans (Yeast Fungus) under control. The result of this is a yeast infection.

2. Why do we have it in our bodies in the first place?

What you have to understand is that we all have this fungus in our bodies. We need this fungus as it keeps certain bacteria (like E-Coli) in check and it is only when you get an overgrowth (the fungus growing out of control) that you can be said to have a fungus infection.

3. What do I have to do to stop the overgrowth?

OK, so if you understand how it happens, it is easy to understand how you have to treat yeast infection because of antibiotics. You have to increase the “good” bacteria in your body. If you do that, you will succeed in getting the fungus under control again.

4. How do I increase the “good” bacteria in my body?

How to do that? Well the best way, to my mind, is yogurt. So many people believe you have to avoid yogurt when you have this infection because it contains yeast, but that is not so, it is a good kind of yeast and the yogurt contains lots of ‘good” bacteria you need in your intestines to get the Candida under control.

5. What kind of yogurt should I use?

This is very important! Be on the lookout for a really good yogurt. Get a yogurt that lists quite a few of the probiotics and probiotics cultures. It also has to be natural yogurt. Make sure it is unflavored, unsweetened and contains no fruit. Best still, if you can, make your own and eat it fresh.

6. Why natural, unsweetened and unflavored yogurt?

Well, what is important to know is that the Candida fungus grows on sugar and you have to avoid all kinds of sugar, including those in fruit, until it is under control again.

7. How to use the yogurt to treat yeast infection because of antibiotics?

The yogurt can be used in three ways depending on where you have the yeast infection.

i. First of all, no matter where you have the infection, eat lots of it, at least three cups full a day. Make sure you eat it raw as cooking with it will kill all the good bacteria. You can use it as a salad dressing though to help you increase the amount you are able to eat.

ii. Use it as a topical cream on the affected area

iii. Soak a tampon in it and insert it in the case of a vaginal yeast infection.

So, if you want to treat yeast infection because of antibiotics, the use of yogurt is one of the best choices.
