Have you considered incorporating meditation into your daily routine to help you unwind and relieve your tension? It may appear that meditation is a complex process that requires advanced awareness and ability, but at its foundation, meditation is largely about focus and relaxation.

The following visualization exercise will help you realize just how simple it is to meditate. The instructions aren’t hard to follow, and the exercise can be done easily in any comfortable location in your house.

You can meditate at any time throughout the day, but mornings are the ideal time. You’ll have fewer disturbances then, and since the day has just started, you won’t have so many distracting thoughts and feelings getting in the way.

Before you start, find a peaceful, secluded room, somewhere where you feel calm and quiet. Now seat yourself in a comfortable position, sitting straight with your spine relaxed but upright. Sit wherever you feel most comfy, either in a chair, on the floor, perched on a cushion, or on the bed. People frequently meditate sitting cross-legged on the floor, but if you find this uncomfortable or restrictive to your circulation, keep your legs extended. The important thing is that you’re relaxed.

Now that you’ve settled in, it’s time to calm yourself. Close your eyes and relax your body. Let go of your thoughts for the moment.

Now comes the visualization part. Choose an object to think about. This can literally be anything – a flower, a pet, or even a kitchen appliance! Mentally focus on this object and think about its features. Think about its color, its shape and its texture. Then imagine what it would be like to be that object.

Let your thoughts come effortlessly. Be aware of the object you have chosen to focus on and feel it becoming part of you.

It’s important that you are not distracted by external noises and activities, so a secluded location is vital to your success. If a thought occurs to you, or a noise distracts you, just set it aside and return to focusing on the object.

You won’t be able to achieve this level of contemplation in your first session, and it will probably take many efforts before you feel that it comes effortlessly. But it will happen if you are determined.

By adding visualization meditation to your daily routine, you’ll find it becomes less effort to concentrate fully and block out distractions. And you will find that you have learned to relax your body and focus your mind.

The term laceration implies a torn or jagged wound. Lacerations tend to be caused by blunt trauma (such as a blow, fall, or collision). Cuts and lacerations are terms for the same condition. The term laceration is commonly misused in reference to incisions.

A laceration may be large or small, if the laceration is minor then minimal bleeding could occur, but in some cases it may bleed a lot. Minor lacerations cause less pain and no numbness and tingling at the site. If a laceration bleeds a great deal with no sign of stopping, it needs to be closed with stitches. If any bone and tendons could be seen then the wound has to be stitched. Stitches may also be needed to keep the wound from becoming infected and to reduce the scarring that may develop after it has healed. Old wounds are not possible to be stitched easily. There are some kinds of laceration that may heal without the need of stitches. The healing time for a laceration depends on its location. For instance, a cut on the leg usually heals more slowly than one on the head. Stitches are usually removed within 5 days to 2 weeks. The cut will continue to heal for up to 6 months.

Minor lacerations could be treated by following steps:

• The site should be cleaned well with an antibacterial soap and warm water.

• An effective topical gel or ointment should be used

• The laceration site should be covered with sterile gauze or a Band-Aid.

The Band-Aid should be changed when needed or when soiled. The wound

underneath should be cleaned and the ointment should be applied again.

• If red streaks or drainage appears around the site, then medical help should

be taken.

But in some cases the laceration is not a minor one and stitches are required. In this situation the wound care is different, which is as follows:

• The wound site should be kept clean.

• An antibiotic ointment should be used if prescribed by the doctor.

• The site should be elevated as this would prevent or decrease pain, swelling

and throbbing.

• Medications to reduce pain can be used.

• Return to the doctor to get the stitches removed within 7-10 days or when asked.

• Complete monitoring of the wound should be kept, if any redness or drainage

is seen, then medical attention should be taken.

• Once the stitches are removed then Vitamin E can be used on the wound site, as

it helps in reducing the scar.

Wound be gone topical gel plays a pivotal role in healing the wounds with a faster pace. It can be used for applying over lacerations as it doesn’t have any side effects. The role of wound be gone is not limited till healing the wound, but it also helps in preventing the scar formation over the wound. One of its other features is that it heals the wound with minimal chances of getting infected. It works based on a unique and patented revolutionary principle; totally different from current healing products. It contains no antibiotics or biological material; it has a wide range of uses, and is safe to use with no age restrictions.

Healing nutrition can help anyone who has an ailment. However, one group of individuals who can make the most of it are those afflicted with a type of sports injury. When an athlete is hurt, the best way to help them is to provide adequate nutrition.

Another thing that can help while having healing nutrition is to incorporate a herbal products diet regime into it. This can only help to enhance a person’s immune system when they need it the most.

When a person is injured while playing sports, one of two things happen. A repetitive motion trauma can occur or a direct trauma that results from a fall or some kind of accident.

No matter how the injury took place, a diet filled with such nutrition can help to alleviate the injury. Both herbal products organic material and a diet rich in nutrients can help to heal an athlete quickly and very effectively.

One of the best ways that healing nutrition and herbs can be incorporated into the diet is through supplements and vitamins. Adequate vitamin intake is essential when trying to heal injuries.

Vitamins are readily available to purchase, but when healing an injury it is best to buy herbal products or vitamins that are enhanced with essential vitamins of C, A, E, and beta carotene. These are vital if the injury sustained is a tissue injury.

Other wildcrafted herbal products that can be found in healing nutrition are bromelain, arnica, and aloe vera. Bromelain is found in the pineapple and can be used to treat a variety of injuries.

Bromelain inhibits the formation of a hormone substance that can increase an athlete’s inflammation. This is the last thing that a healing person needs when they have been injured.

Arnica is known to increase the healing rate when bruising and swelling are the main components of the injury.

A person can rub it on their skin the heal sprains and bruises quickly and holistically. However, a mild rash could develop from using these wildcrafted herbal products and a person may need to discontinue using this with their healing nutrition regime.

And the most well known herb for healing is more than likely aloe vera, and this can definitely help a person who is recovering from an injury. By just rubbing this particular herb on the injury, everything from swelling to joint pain can be helped.

Healing nutrition for sports injuries can be a great thing especially if one combines a herbal products diet with their nutrition.

A ton of great information can be found by asking the treating physician or searching the internet for references on holistic healing or alternative medicines with sports injuries.

Meditation refers to a state where your body and mind are consciously relaxed and focused. Practitioners of this art report increased awareness, focus, and concentration, as well as a more positive outlook in life.

Meditation is most commonly associated with monks, mystics and other spiritual disciplines. However, you don’t have to be a monk or mystic to enjoy its benefits. And you don’t even have to be in a special place to practice it. You could even try it in your own living room!

Although there are many different approaches to meditation, the fundamental principles remain the same. The most important among these principles is that of removing obstructive, negative, and wandering thoughts and fantasies, and calming the mind with a deep sense of focus. This clears the mind of debris and prepares it for a higher quality of activity.

The negative thoughts you have – those of noisy neighbors, bossy officemates, that parking ticket you got, and unwanted spam- are said to contribute to the ‘polluting’ of the mind, and shutting them out is allows for the ‘cleansing’ of the mind so that it may focus on deeper, more meaningful thoughts.

Some practitioners even shut out all sensory input – no sights, no sounds, and nothing to touch – and try to detach themselves from the commotion around them. You may now focus on a deep, profound thought if this is your goal. It may seem deafening at first, since we are all too accustomed to constantly hearing and seeing things, but as you continue this exercise you will find yourself becoming more aware of everything around you.

If you find the meditating positions you see on television threatening – those with impossibly arched backs, and painful-looking contortions – you need not worry. The principle here is to be in a comfortable position conducive to concentration. This may be while sitting cross-legged, standing, lying down, and even walking.

If the position allows you to relax and focus, then that would be a good starting point. While sitting or standing, the back should be straight, but not tense or tight. In other positions, the only no-no is slouching and falling asleep.

Loose, comfortable clothes help a lot in the process since tight fitting clothes have a tendency to choke you up and make you feel tense.

The place you perform meditation should have a soothing atmosphere. It may be in your living room, or bedroom, or any place that you feel comfortable in. You might want an exercise mat if you plan to take on the more challenging positions (if you feel more focused doing so, and if the contortionist in you is screaming for release). You may want to have the place arranged so that it is soothing to your senses.

Silence helps most people relax and meditate, so you may want a quiet, isolated area far from the ringing of the phone or the humming of the washing machine. Pleasing scents also help in that regard, so stocking up on aromatic candles isn’t such a bad idea either.

The monks you see on television making those monotonous sounds are actually performing their mantra. This, in simple terms, is a short creed, a simple sound which, for these practitioners, holds a mystic value.

You do not need to perform such; however, it would pay to note that focusing on repeated actions such as breathing, and humming help the practitioner enter a higher state of consciousness.

The principle here is focus. You could also try focusing on a certain object or thought, or even, while keeping your eyes open, focus on a single sight.

One sample routine would be to – while in a meditative state – silently name every part of you body and focusing your consciousness on that part. While doing this you should be aware of any tension on any part of your body. Mentally visualize releasing this tension. It works wonders.

In all, meditation is a relatively risk-free practice and its benefits are well worth the effort (or non-effort – remember we’re relaxing).

Studies have shown that meditation does bring about beneficial physiologic effects to the body. And there has been a growing consensus in the medical community to further study the effects of such. So in the near future, who knows, that mystical, esoteric thing we call meditation might become a science itself!

Believe it or not, there are many different types of massages. Some people use the word “massage” as a catchall, but this is not exactly accurate. You need to know about the different types and what they offer before you make a decision on what is right for you. Even if you are not the type to get a massage you never know when you are going to change your mind in the future. And if you do you will be in position to make an informed decision.

Facial massages are becoming more and more popular. As you can imagine, this type of massage focus on your face and are great for reliving tension, stress, headaches, and other pain.

The most common type of massage is the body. This allows your masseuse to work on your entire body instead of just one area. If this is something that interests you it is important to know what you are getting into before you start. Obviously, you don’t want to opt for a full body deep tissue massage if you are not used to this.

If you are on the other side, that being the person giving the massage, you need to make sure you are familiar with all the types. To go along with this, you need the proper equipment and products. This includes: massage oil, massage lotion, massage table, massage chair, and much more. You can even buy a massage DVD if you want to learn more about how to do this.

Now that you know more about the different massage types you can decide what is best for your body.

Did you know you can improve your health without drugs by putting on a set of headphones? Would you believe that putting on those headphones and listening to certain sounds could also improve your mental health such as eliminating anger and stress?

It sounds amazing and it is. How does it »»

Did you know you can improve your health without drugs by putting on a set of headphones? Would you believe that putting on those headphones and listening to certain sounds could also improve your mental health such as eliminating anger and stress?

It sounds amazing and it is. How does it work? You listen to tones which produce binaural beats in your brain which alters your brainwaves and thereby producing amazing results. Even though its amazing and easy and has many beneficial results, binaural beats is not magic and it does take a few sessions before you will see results. Plus, you can not just listen to the sounds, you have to be relaxed for it to work.

Binaural beats is a brain response when presented with two slightly different tonal changes in a stereo situation. When a person is presented with the two different tones – the brain produces a response (binaural beat) that produces an altered state in brainwaves and therefore a hypnotic trance or super learning type environment.

The brainwaves entrain to or move towards the beat frequency. For example, if a 315 Hz wave is played into the right ear and a 325 Hz one into the left ear, the brain is supposed to be entrained towards the beat frequency. In this case it would be 10 Hz which in in the alpha range. Since alpha brain waves are associated with relaxation, this would have a relaxing effect.

If external stimulus is applied to the brain, it becomes possible to alter the brain waves from one stage to another. For example, if a person is in beta stage meaning they are highly alert and a stimulus of 10Hz is applied to their brain for some time, the brain frequency is likely to change towards the applied stimulus of 10Hz. The effect will be calming and beneficial to the person.

This has been used in treatment of depression, low self-esteem, attention deficit disorder, drug and alcohol addiction and autism, to name a few.

Protoscientists believe that binaural beats may influence the brain in more subtle ways through the entrainment of brainwaves and can be used to produce relaxation and other health benefits.

With the knowledge of changing your brain waves, you can greatly improve your physical and mental well being.

Here are scientically proven benefits of the delta brainwaves:

1. Speeding up regeneration of new cells

2. White blood cells multiply greatly killing invading germs and bacteria

3. Restore unbalanced sodium and potassium in the body which causes fatigue

4. Keep blood circulation flowing freely in the body meaning a natural immune system

Smoking leads to changes in your body and influences the way you act. The changes in your body are brought about by nicotine dependence. The changes in the way you act developed over time as you purchased and smoked cigarettes. These alterations have turned into your smoking habit.

KICKING THE HABIT

- Get ready

When you make a decision to give up smoking, choose a stop date in 2 – 4 weeks so you will have time to get ready. Make a list of reasons demonstrating why you would like to stop smoking. Be specific. Have this list with you and read though it each time you feel like lighting a cigarette. Also, make alterations in your everyday routine, which will help you avoid temptation.

Before your stop date, throw away all your cigarettes, matches and ashtrays.

- Moral support

The support of friends and family will make it easier for you to give up smoking. Tell them what sort of help you need. Ask your GP to help you work out a plan for stopping smoking. He or she can give you self-help materials or information on phone hotlines.

- Handling nerve-racking situations

You may have got in the habit of lighting cigarettes to relax during nerve-racking times. Luckily, there are good methods to deal with stresssful situations without cigarettes. For example, try reducing strain by taking a hot bath, going for a walk or doing exercise.

- Medications

Exercising and diverse relaxation techniques should be coupled with a natural way to stop smoking permanently. The pharmaceutical market offers both semisynthetic and herbal medications. There are nicotine replacement stop-smoking products that help take in nicotine without smoking. These give up-smoking aids come in several forms: gum, patch, nasal spray, inhaler and lozenge. You can get the nicotine gum, patch and pill without a prescription from your physician.

Natural medicines are absolutely secure. They do not bring out harmful side reactions and help get out of the habit for ever. http://natural-stop-smoking. com is the site where you can order herbal stop-smoking drugs. They eliminate nicotine in your body and resolve the problem as painless as possible.

How you feel after you stop smoking will depend upon how much you smoked daily and how dependent your body is on nicotine. You might feel like lighting a cigarette or feel much hungrier than usual. You might feel edgy and have trouble focusing. You may probably cough more at first, and you may have headaches. These symptoms are called are withdrawal symptoms. They are in particular severe within the first few days after you stop smoking. Typically most go away in several weeks.

Keep in mind that even one puff of a cigarette can bring out a relapse.

If you start up smoking again, do not give up. Pick a new stop date. Keep trying.

Believe it or not, there are those who wonder if alcohol has an effect on their muscle building activities. The answer is a resounding yes alcohol will adversely affect your work out.

Protein shakes are the first drink that serious muscle builder will reach for, and for good reason. Protein is critical when muscle building, and its absorption should not be interfered with. When alcohol is consumed, the synthesis of protein is impaired.

The process that joins amino acids together to form complete proteins is called protein synthesis. When a person drinks alcohol the process is slowed by 20%.

Another factor in muscle building is the level of testosterone in the body. Ave you ever noticed that women do not build the same amount of muscle mass as men? This is because of low levels of testosterone; women have 15-20 times less testosterone than men do.

You may wonder what testosterone has to do with alcohol. Alcohol will decrease the levels of testosterone while increasing levels of estrogen in the body.

Hydration is also affected when you consume alcohol. In order to process the alcohol, the kidneys have to produce a massive amount of water. When this occurs, it is easy for the body to become dehydrated.

Nerves are controlled by the muscles. Nerves produce the stimuli that contract muscles using electrolyte minerals that dissolve in water. Water also lubricates the joints and protects them against injury while working out.

Drinking alcohol robs your body of key vitamins. Vitamins like B, C and A, plus calcium and phosphorous are all depleted through the use of alcohol. When you consider that the most important vitamins to healthy muscle development are vitamins B and C, you can see this is just one more reason that drinking alcohol while muscle building is such a big deal.

When you are body building, the idea is to deplete the stores of fat while increasing your muscle mass. Nutritionists agree that alcohol contains no nutritional value at all; it is nothing more than empty calories. Additionally, it contains twice the carbs and calories than protein does.

It is important to note that the calories that are taken in as the result of alcohol consumption are the first calories that will be burned for energy. What this means is that the fat that is stored will remain stored until all of the alcohol calories have been burned for energy. This isn’t really an optimal situation for somebody that wants to lose fat and build muscle.

We have examined most of the major points on alcohol and bodybuilding; however, you have to consider the other affects of alcohol on the body. Prolonged use can lead to liver damage, diabetes and a host of other medically related problems. It will be increasingly difficult to build muscle if you suffer any one of these. At the end of the day, is it really worth the cost?

Zen meditation music is applied in a form of Zen named Blowing Zen|In a kind of Zen called Blowing Zen is applied in Zen meditation music. This form of Zen uses the shakuhachi flute to Enhancing the experience of meditation and soothing the spirit and body are the result of the use of the shakuhachi by this sort of Zen. This kind of meditation music was used for centuries by the Buddhists, and is still applied today.

When you go to choose Zen meditation music, you will want to choose music that permits you to be soothed and calmed. Flute music is typically utilized because of its soft, irenic tones. From Time To Time with over 3 players, you can find the shakuhachi flute melodies done as duets and solos. To improve the experience of meditation, these melodies specifically played to this end.

If you require something a little different from shakuhachi flute Zen meditation music, you can select tracks of your own. Nevertheless, there are a few criteria that the music has to meet in order for it to accomplish the sensations that you need. First, it must be tranquilizing music. The genre does not matter, as long as the melodies are instrumentals. Music with words tends to distract from Zen meditation, and hence is inappropriate music for this style of meditation.

A key feature of Zen meditation music is that it is played via speakers. Although you can put on headsets or ear buds, nevertheless it is sometimes suggested that it is played by speaker in order that you don’t encounter any discomfort from wearing the headsets or ear buds for long time.

Something you may want to consider is what are the aims you want to accomplish with meditation, when you are picking Zen meditation music. This can often help you pick the best music for your mood. If the achievement of enhanced self esteem is your target, you will want to play a pretty uplifting melody, and if you desire serenity, your ideal music is that of tranquility. Notwithstanding, no matter what style of meditation you are looking for, the music must not distract you from the meditations.

You can get Zen meditation music by downloading it online to your computer, playing it online from one of numerous streaming files through your web browser, or you can purchase a cd. CDs can be bought at local stores or can be purchased online and mailed directly to your home.

There also some individuals who casually compose and play Zen meditation music, and present their songs to the community of Zen meditation free of charge. You can either support professional players through the buy of their songs or entire albums or you can select to utilise the Zen meditation music.

All around the world the demands on healthcare systems with finite resources is increasing. The resource which seems to have been forgotten is the power of the human body to heal itself. These methods are sometimes called “Alternative Therapies” although in truth they have been providing effective relief for centuries, long before the rise of “Modern Medicine”.

One of the most effective of these treatments is the Accupressure and it is easy to see why. The treatment is non invasive and does not bring with it unwanted side effects. It can be performed in the comfort of your own home. Most importantly – it works – with results which can be measured from the first treatment and benefits which accrue with use.

Acupressure has proved to be popular and has gained a strong reputation amongst natural treatments and alternative medicine all around the world. The first use of the acupressure mat as we know it today was in Soviet Union in the 1980s and the name of the first mats was related to its inventor Ivan Kuznetsov. These mats are called Kuznetsov Applicators. Since their introduction many millions of Kuznetsov Applicators have been sold in the former Soviet States and the lives of millions improved as a result.

In the late 1990s, with the spread of liberation following the demise of the Soviet Union Accupressure Mats began to be popular in a wide range of former Soviet Block countries and beyond.

Today we are seeing the popularity of Acupressure Mats spreading worldwide with their use sweeping across Scandinavia, Western Europe, America and Australia.

This popularity of Accupressure Mats is explained by their extreme simplicity and fantastic effectiveness. Unlike most drugs, relief is usually immediate.

Acupressure itself is known to benefit health in a number of positive ways – including reducing stress and tension; increasing blood circulation; aiding in the removal of toxic wastes; providing relief from head, neck and shoulder aches; promoting healing; increasing energy levels; and increasing feelings of well-being.

Original Acupressure Mats have provided effective relief in thousands of clinical cases and the success rate is 93%. It doesn’t seem to matter how severe the pain is or how long the person has suffered.

Millions of Acupressure mats are being sold annually and as the reputation of the treatment spreads it is certain that more are will be sold in the future. There are dozens of different types, sizes, modifications and names of the Acupressure mat.

Mats are now marketed under a confusing number of trade names. They are variously called Tibetan Applicator, Russian Prickle Pad, Bed of nails, Hedgehog, Spike mat, Spikmatta, Piikkimatto, Shaktimatto, Shakti Mat, Yoga mat, Fakir Mat or Yantra mat.

With such a variety to choose from choosing the right mat for your particular condition can be a puzzle.

The main thing that should be considered is that this is a personal use device and it will be used in direct contact with our skin.

It is important to check that plastic spines are made of non allergic and non toxic materials and that they are securely fixed to the base fabric using a high strength, non-toxic adhesive. It is also important to check that the mat has got the necessary health and hygiene certificates.

The material used for the base of the mat is also important. Ideally it should be 100% Linen or Cotton fabric which allows free air circulation to your skin. Linen fabrics, with their high level of resistance to fungus and bacteria, are exceptional Fabrics for Healing, Healthy Living and Well Being. It is also better if the fabric has natural colors and is not chemically bleached or dyed.

Factory production is much more preferable than hand made for higher hygiene standards and better quality control of the evenness of distribution of the spikes. Also factory produced mats allow closer spacing of the spines for a more even distribution of pressure.

For maximum effect Acupressure Mats should be used on a flat and hard surface to maintain the best pressure from the spikes on acupressure points on the body. The use of foam backing is an indication that the mat has been produced with aesthetic rather than health considerations in mind!

Trying to repeat contours of the body reduces the pressure on the trigger points and thereby reduces effectiveness. Acupressure healing relies on the application of pointed pressure to the body trigging a series of complicated internal processes producing a Healing Response. Pain or injury acts to alert the body that damage control is needed, at which point the Healing Response begins and endorphins are generated to repair the affected area. This increases the heart rate and alters the blood pressure to speed up the elimination of toxins from the damaged area.

The research and clinical tests which proves the effectiveness of Accupressure used original Acupressure mats on a flat thin fabric base. Results for modified mats are unproven.

Independent experts have compared the most popular Acupressure mats on the market today. The mats tested were:

Swedish Acupressure mat (www.spikemat.com) – 51 balls

Shakti mat (www.shaktimat.com) – 26 balls

Evaluation was carried out of seven important characteristics of the mats. The performance of each was evaluated using the 10 ball scale where 10 is a measure of ultimate performance. The total rating is shown on the bottom of the table.
