Gluten is a protein found in many foods – specifically rye, oats, barley and what. Gluten and acne may not seem related, but they may in fact be having a sordid, destructive affair that is costing you the health of your skin!

Gluten products bear a remarkable resemblance to dairy products, in that they cause digestive disorders that are signs of a food intolerance. It is characterized by a painful inflammation of the gut, as well as other health problems, including acne. Seeing it in this vein, the existence of a relationship between gluten and a chronic case of acne is not so hard to spot. “Gluten intolerance,” as a matter of fact, is a common condition – around 30% of all people are estimated to have gluten intolerance in some form or another.

Acne, on the other hand, is a very common condition. It often occurs during adolescence, when a hormone rush triggers a buildup of sebum in the skin’s pores, resulting in the pores clogging and producing skin growths that fall under the category of “acne.” Acne comes in many forms – sometimes it appears as blackheads or whiteheads, papules (red and tender bumps with no head), and pustules (a pus-filled bump similar to a whitehead, but with a more prominent white or yellow center; better known as the garden variety zit), or a combination of all of these. More than one type of acne may be present in a single area, and this area is almost always the face.

Acne is a hormonal condition, which means any imbalance in the hormones causes this condition to occur. Adolescence is not the only time in one’s life when acne frequently occurs; pregnancy is another. The rush of hormones that takes place in these periods paves the way for the overproduction of sebum, which is the medical cause of acne. This means that gluten intolerance, or any other kind of food allergy, cannot cause acne.

However, certain conditions can worsen acne. Stress and an unhealthy diet have been known to be among the main culprits that aggravate an already existing acne condition. A clear relationship has been drawn between gluten allergy and acne outbreaks, so if you are experiencing a severe acne outbreak, try to look at the foods you eat. Do any of them contain gluten? Or perhaps any other substance that you may be allergic to?

Allergies don’t always have to be severe. In fact, the symptoms of allergy are not always the same; one person may exhibit a seafood allergy by swelling up in the face and hands, another person may exclusively experience breathing difficulties, and yet another person may suffer from a combination of both. Gluten and acne may be interrelated, so if you’ve noticed that the foodstuffs that you eat when you experience severe acne outbreaks contain gluten, doing away with them may well be the best thing you’ve ever done for your skin.

Adult acne affects literally millions of people. We tend to think of acne as

a teenage problem but, according to the American Academy of Dermatology, it

is the most common skin disorder in the United States.

Consider this:

·	Over 50 per cent of women of all ages suffer from acne at some stage in

their lives. .

·	80 per cent of adults between the ages of 20 and 30 suffer from mild to

moderate acne

·	Even after age 50, over 15 per cent of women and over 7 per cent of men

still suffer from acne

·	Adult men are not as prone as women to acne but they can suffer for longer

periods of time and have more severe symptoms

The same things cause adult acne as teenage acne – too much sebum in the body.

Sebum is oil secreted by the sebaceous glands to lubricate the skin. It is

when too much oil is produced that the problems start – the pore becomes

blocked, p.acne bacteria multiply and attacks the follicle. In the process

the bacteria produces free fatty acids that irritate the skin. The body then

reacts to defend the skin, which can cause an inflammatory response resulting

in the acne symptoms we know so well.

The main reason the body produces too much oil is an imbalance of hormones

in the body. That’s why women will have acne outbreaks when their hormones

are awry – ovulation, menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause. It’s also why

men have more severe and longer lasting acne – they produce more

testosterone.

The way to treat acne is to restore the body’s natural balance. That’s why a

healthy lifestyle can help – by helping the body rid itself of toxins,

controlling the production of oil and restoring hormonal balance.

Whilst there has been a long running debate about the effects or non-effects

of diet on acne, recent research has shown there is a strong link. There are

indications that a low GI diet lowers the outbreaks. The reason for this is a

high GI diet – one high in refined sugars, white flour, white rice –

increases the blood sugar level. The body needs to bring the blood sugar

level down. It does this by a surge of insulin and other male hormones. This

creates an excess of sebum, which starts the whole process of acne formation.

A well-balanced diet on its own may not cure acne but it will certainly help

control it by laying a good foundation for other treatment. Following a

healthy diet will:

·	Provide nutrients to the body in the form of vitamins and minerals

·	Help the body’s immune system deal with ailments

·	Help the body heal itself

·	Lift energy levels

·	Promote a positive feeling of well being

It is no surprise then, when we learn researchers have found a strong link

between a healthy lifestyle and reduced acne breakouts.

Acne is becoming more and more of a common problem in our current society, it affects millions of individuals. Most studies report that almost everyone will suffer from this condition at one point in their lives. Of course most cases are not severe and disappear in time but for the rest the acne persist and can often seriously disfigure the face.

Anyone suffering the more extreme forms of acne should immediately seek to cure themselves by looking for the right kind of acne medication. The best way to choose from amongst the range of acne medications available is to consult a skin specialist on the various prescription medications available for acne. Prescription acne medications are specially made to suit the particular needs of each patient.

Acne: The Choices for Topical Medication

Amongst all the available acne medication on the market, many believe that topical prescriptions are the most effective to get rid of acne problems. In many cases a direct application on the affected area can have a significant healing impact. This type of treatment can be of great help for people suffering from mild to extreme acne problems. Many studies show that the skin can start to heal within days of using this treatment.

These topical acne medications have other uses and benefits. Here are some of these benefits: they can help moisturize and nourish the skin, they help to stop the signs of premature aging. The exposure of the sun for example is often responsible for premature wrinkles and some acne treatments that contain retinoid can be of great help against acne and the reduction of wrinkles.

Oral Antibiotics and Acne

In many cases where acne is severe and persistent, many users have reported that topical acne medication does not work after a certain point. In these particular cases there are other options available like antibiotics. One point to remember is that you should never self prescribes antibiotics as they can have undesirable side effects. Talk to your doctor to learn more about these side effects.

These possibly violent side effects could even cause permanent damage to the body if taken recklessly. If one finds that the acne medications that have been prescribed are not working as they should, one should return to the dermatologist. Only such qualified professionals are fully aware of side effects and will prescribe the correct medications that are suited to a particular person.

Dr. Murad, a dermatologist who dedicated his life to the science of clear skin, developed the Murad Acne Complex. For the past 30 years, he has treated more than 50,000 patients; because of his experience he had great insight as to his patients’ skin care needs. He developed the Murad Acne Complex skin care products for patients to use at home.

Dr. Murad still has a busy dermatological practice in California. He continues to develop new skin care products and keeps people’s skin in great condition.

There are many skin conditions which can resemble acne- eczema, perioral dermatitis and folliculitis. These may not involve all the factors that cause real acne, but have one thing in common with acne, which is the inflammation involved. The great thing about the Murad Acne Complex kit is that it takes into account all factors relating to acne and also skin breakouts. How it does this is it reduces the cell build-up, extra oil and inflammation of the skin. Each of the products in the Murad Acne Complex kits contain 3 key ingredients, as follows:

1. Hydrating agents 2. Anti inflammatories 3. Antioxidants

They also contain specific acne fighters which work together to provide optimal skin results. They also include a patented internal supplement. This is used to treat any acne breakouts from the inside. If you have acne or something which resembles such, you can use Murad in order to keep your skin healthy and beautiful.

The Murad Acne Complex kit consists of 3 treatments. In clinical studies, they determined that over 90% of those who participated had experienced a noticeable reduction in their blemishes in just 4 weeks. The following are details of the Murad Acne Complex treatments:

1. Clarifying Cleanser This has been clinically proven to reduce 99.99% of irritating surface bacteria in less than one minute. It contains triclosan and salicylic acid which helps to gently but effectively reduce any acne blemishes as well as keeping the skin clear.

2. Exfoliating Acne Treatment Gel This patented formula blends retinol with salicylic and glycolic acids which penetrate pores and sweep them super clean. The hydrogen peroxide also in this treatment purifies the skin without drying and leaves it clear and healthy.

3. The Skin Perfecting Lotion- An ultra-light and oil-free treatment which hydrates the skin without leaving an oily residue. It also contains retinol and arnica. These work together to reduce redness and prevent pores from becoming clogged. The result is a softer and more evenly textured skin.

So when looking at an alternative way for treating your acne then why not consider trying the Murad Acne Complex treatment system.

However great a person’s features are or how well their clothes fit their bodies, one small feature can really ruin the whole effect. A bad case of acne can do this pretty badly, so if you’d been working really hard to get that beach-ready body, don’t forget to take care of your skin, too.

Most people will have dealt with acne at some point in their lives. For most of us, acne is a really annoying part of the awkward and painful years of our adolescence, and it is during this time that one of the main causes of acne starts to take effect.

While most people first experience acne as teens, there are a lot of different causes of acne. Smokers, for example, are especially susceptible to acne, so if you’re holding a cancer stick right now, throw it away! You’re ruining your skin. Another one of the many causes of acne is exclusive to women: the dreaded PMS acne, which often breaks out when hormonal imbalances during a woman’s menstrual cycle affects her body.

Treating acne is usually a pretty simple and straightforward matter, especially if your acne isn’t very severe. Sometimes, it can be as easy as washing your face on a regular basis, using a gentle facial cleanser that fits your skin type.

Doing this can get rid of the excess oil and dirt that could be clogging up your pores. Clogged pores can lead to pimples and all the other nasty blemishes that make up the acne symptom repertoire.

Hormone treatments, for example, can be an effective treatment for really severe acne. For most people though, a good acne cream is often enough. Applying it regularly or as directed by your doctor can really show results, especially if coupled with a good skin care regimen.

Choosing the right brand of topical cream or ointment will depend on how you plan on treating acne and on your own body chemistry; some substances are a lot likely to work on certain kinds of people than others. Once you get the kind of treatment that works for you, you probably won’t have to worry about the causes of acne anymore.

So, whether your acne manifests as nothing more than a few non-inflammatory whiteheads and blackheads, or your face, neck and back are covered in pustules and nodules the size of dung beetles, don’t worry! There are bound to be products that will not only treat the effects of acne, but the causes of acne as well.

The skin on our faces are far more sensitive than the skin on any other part of our body. This is why we purchase different skin care products for our faces. And of course, we want the best of everything – the best astringent, the best camouflage cosmetics, the best moisturizer. Acne is a common skin condition that we buy separate products for, but in some cases, the products we buy for our acne and the products we would normally buy for our facial skin don’t exactly go well together.

But if we’re thinking about our faces and we’re looking for the best moisturizer, acne should be a factor. Acne could be aggravated by any substance that touches the skin, even cleansers and lotions that claim to be hypoallergenic. Moisturizers are especially risky, because some moisturizers contain substances that cause itchiness and irritation. But if one stops moisturizing, the skin on one’s face becomes dry and flaky, or would thin and age easily.

Acne is not a permanent condition for most of us, so it should be all right to purchase a moisturizer that is especially mild, in case of acne conditions, even if it is not your favorite brand or the brand that your skin has gotten used to. Once the acne has cleared up, it should be all right to settle on one’s old brand or other moisturizers altogether.

For one thing, moisturizers should have a minimum of perfumes and other potentially irritating substances in them. If you have observed that the moisturizer that you have gotten used to is aggravating your acne condition, take note of the ingredients written on the label. Avoiding other moisturizers that have the same active ingredients would be a good start.

Picking out moisturizers that have components that especially nourish the skin is also an asset. Examples of these components are jojoba oil and aloe vera. Aloe vera especially has a cool, soothing feel, and it is known for reducing inflammations on the skin on any part of the body. Using a moisturizer with aloe vera in it may even be good for alleviating your acne condition!

Sensitive facial skin – that is, skin that easily goes into acne outbreaks at the introduction of external substances – could do with facial products that only have 0.5% salicylic acid. In this vein, reducing the salicylic acid content of all your facial products may help. Salicylic acid is sometimes found in large amounts in popular astringents, and are marketed as effective acne controllers – however, some kinds of skin do not react well to high amounts of salicylic acid. If you find that your acne condition actually gets worse when you use salicylic acid products, stop using them as soon as possible – this may help you better tolerate a broader spectrum of commercially available moisturizers. During your search for the best moisturizer, acne may not be such a problem!
